We have felt the need to contact all customers about dubious sales techniques using the ISDN switch off as a route to exploit customers into changing their service or equipment unnecessarily. Some of the methods that we have seen include purporting to be “working with BT or Openreach”, or even passing themselves off as BT or Openreach. Openreach do not have a direct sales division and will never contact you in this manner.
Without exception all of them were insisting that action was needed immediately otherwise the customer would be without communication. Often it included the need to replace the present telephone system and to transfer all services to that company with a long fixed term contract, usually with a “sign up today special offer”
Whilst the process slowly starts in 2020, the ISDN switch off is not until the end of 2025. We have a program in place to modify all existing customers equipment to change their existing lines and numbers from ISDN to SIP. The kits modify the existing telephone systems and permit the use of nearly all existing systems with minimal or no extra costs to your current expenditure. There are no loss of numbers or any downtime.
In order to expedite the conversion of all the current systems over the next five years (to prevent a rush at the end) we are approaching customers from this summer to make the changes in the near future for your convenience.
If you have any concerns or would like confirmation that your system is compatible with the new SIP services please contact our Account Managers (Peter Stanek, Steve Morris or Leon Fletcher) for advice.
